RIDE to YERCAUD

My Contact+917204774545 - For any information...

This trip includes a typical route to Yercaud from Bangalore. It's not the usual highway route while going to Yercaud which made the ride more interesting. It's through the forest.

Date of Ride: April 22, 2017

Precautions to be taken for the trip:

1. The first thing is to plan the number of days you want to use for the trip. Maximum is 2 days if you want a relaxed visit of all the places. In a single day, you have to hurry. As the ride was our first priority and due to some other commitments we had to plan for one-day trip.

2. If you are taking the forest route, be careful in the forest. Stop for photo shoots just after a village or just before a village as there will be few people.

3. Take an extra pair of clothes if you want to get into the waterfalls.

4. Heard that walking back from Kiliyur falls is hectic and strenuous. Be prepared for this.

And our trip starts a day before with taking the gear for rent. :-)

We took the riding gear for rent in GearNRide which is located in HN Towers, HSR Layout on the way from Bommanahalli to HSR Layout.
See the details of the store here. Can be navigated using GPS.

Shevaroy Temple:

This temple is located at the highest point in Yercaud. The entrance to see the God is a small cave (very small infact - just about 5 to 10 mts) and you can't walk straight away, you have to bend and go to see the idol. It's very peaceful inside, but we just spent around 5 mins inside as we had a lot to cover before returning from Yercaud.
You can spend some half an hour of time here. Nothing special other than being an old temple. There are eatables outside like Cut pieces of Green Mangoes, Chat items and few things which kids like to buy.
And there is entry ticket for vehicles (Bike/Car). I think it's Rs. 5/- for bike and Rs. 10/- for car. This tickets are common everywhere. In each and every place you visit in Yercaud, we have to take the entry tickets (minimum amount though).

Sri Chakra Maha Meru Temple:

This was initially not in our plan. But, we saw a board saying World's Biggest Temple Sri Chakra Maha Meru Temple showing 4 kms. So, we paid a visit. There was nothing big there. When we asked the priest, he said GOPURAM is the biggest one here. So we had to come back without any word. Not as expected, but the temple was so clean and peaceful. It was well maintained and the calm/peaceful surroundings makes you to relax for a while.

The direction to the temple as this is in a small street, around 50 mts inside

Lady's Seat:

This is treated as the best view point in Yercaud and is quite crowded as well. The view point is good. Worth a visit and there is snacks available near the view point. This is mainly known for experiencing the sunset. We were not lucky enough to see the sunset as it was raining by the time we reached there. But the snacks we had here was so mouth-watering especially the Bread-Omelette for that climate. Spending an hour of time here is worth.

Text written on the rock is so true. Please be careful at the tip.

Ghat Road Visibility. It was covered with clouds. Sorry for the photo clarity as that was taken without much care.

Helmet rested for an hour when we were busy having snacks under the tents in rain .

Gent's Seat and Children's Seat:

These were just okay. These are just another views of the same location which was seen from Lady's seat. And these are just 450 mts from Lady's seat. Entry fees will be collected for these as well. Not so great, but if you have time, you can relax for a while.

Yercaud Lake:

This is treated as the best place in Yercaud, Located at the heart of the town, this is really a great place for spending time with family with the activities like boating. I have seen kids enjoying the boat ride, we did not experience it though. This was wide spread lake surrounded with parks on two sides. Ask for boat-house and then you can get to the starting point where the boat rides start. And there is parking fee here as well.

Anna Park:

This is the best place to relax in the afternoon. And people get the food in boxes and eat here. It reminds you about the VANA BHOJANALU which used to happen in our childhood days in 90s. We used to go to a forest at the river side in our home town along with the food items prepared at home and have there. Memorable days. The same can be seen here in this Anna park. But please keep the premises clean as this park is maintained well and it's our duty as well to make sure it is clean. This park is on one side of the lake.

Entrance - ANNA PARK

Deer Park:

This is the second best park for relaxing. And I observed the same concept of getting the food in boxes and eating here. And there are several birds also along with Deers. This park is full of Greenery and we had a small nap of 15 mins here as we were too tired of riding in hot sun.

No other pic taken here :-D

32-kms Loop Road:

This road offered the best ride in the trip. Do not go with high expectations after reading the reviews. You will enjoy it. We had good time with photos here. See the photos below for an idea on how it looks:

Big Bamboo tree - not sure why it's captured, but it's posted in many sites

:-) :-) NC

Relaxing at Lush Green

Trees along the road

The road view. Not a wider road but good enough for two cars. Ours was bike, so had no issues.

Places which we couldn't cover due to time-constraint:

Kiliyur Falls - Must-visit place.
Karadiyur View Point - This can be ignored.
Pagoda Point - visit if time permits. We forgot this even after including in the list.
Rose Garden - Not sure how much we would have enjoyed visiting these, but couples can try visiting.

In the entire trip the best part is the route we chose. The link mentioned in the beginning has the clear route. Just follow it. Thanks to my friend for choosing this route. If it was only me, I would have gone in highway.

The best part in this route is we could discover a river (Kaveri river). I have to thank my friend here again. He was the who saw this as a pillion. This is Kaveri river and when we observed it in the map after coming this was the border between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. So this is what the two states are fighting for. :-D. Just kidding.
Look at the photos which are clicked at multiple places and each photo is added a caption which describes the location.

My Friend - First stop immediately after Attibele toll for tea

Myself :-)

Diverted from the Highway to the above mentioned route

In the middle of the forest. Warnings signs of animals were hoarded everywhere. Take care.

Tried to be creative. Telugu dialogue - Idi naa Pogaru (This is my pride)

Eastern ghats view <3 <3

The Kaveri river which we discovered on the way

Feeling the flow of water

Breakfast at Pennagram village - Loved it

My picks from the trip:

-> The forest route we diverted to after Hosur.
-> 32-Kms loop Road
-> Yercaud Lake
-> Lady's Seat

The following is the complete Yercaud map which can be seen at the entrance of ANNA PARK.
