DRIVE TO SHETTIHALLI ROSARY CHURCH NEAR HASSAN

My Contact: +917204774545 - For any information...

Best time to visit: July to October
Precautions to be taken:

Nothing much. Be careful of you are going with family as you can see more drunkards there and also the place is lonely.

This was just a casual visit. We had to attend a friend's marriage in Hassan. It was on November 6th, 2016  if I am not wrong. The best time to visit is from July to October. We were fortunate to visit this in November.
If it's rainy season you can witness the church partially submerged with the Hemavathi River water.

We should be here before the sun rises. The nature, climate and the views will be outstanding from 6.30 AM to 8 AM. Then it gets hotter and since this is a ruined church you can't find much shade to rest yourselves.

From Hassan it is 15 kms.
From Bangalore it is 200 kms.

Tips:
Do not plan this church visit alone from Bangalore as you may not reach by sunrise time. Plan for Belur, Halebedu one day and the second day cover this church and return to Bangalore.

Plan:

If you are travelling from Hassan:

It is just 15 kms from Hassan. So make sure you start by 5.45 AM. We were around 7 people. So got ready and started by 6 AM. And just started the navigation to Shettihalli Church. The navigation won't show till the church. It ends at a point. From there we have to take left and go for a while (around 700 mts) which is dusty road. Only one car fits in that last 700 mts road. Some vehicle from opposite and you are done. One of you have to drive backwards. Keep honking while driving in that road.
And the church is visited by many people including families. But I have seen people consuming alcohol in the church. So the couples who go there - be careful. If it's gang of guys it's not a problem.

Things to Note:

1. Travel time from Hassan takes half an hour maximum as the roads are narrow.
2. Navigation will not be shown till the church. So once the navigation ends ask someone. Else explore it and you will finding it.
3. Beware if you are going as a couple as we have seen people drinking in the (ruined) church.
4. Don not stay there after 6.30 PM as the daylight goes off and the place in remote location.

If you are travelling from Bangalore:

Most of the people start early morning. Can have a breakfast stop at Swathi Delecacy (can be found in google maps). This hotel offers the best breakfast enroute to Hassan. Tried many other hotels and found this is the best. Little expensive though, but that's worthy. So while navigating to Shettihalli Church add a stop at Swathi Delecacy. You  will like it for sure.
And the route till Hassan is National Highway (4-lane). So you will not be much tired.

So if you wish to visit the Shettihalli church try to cover it in the evening atleast. Avoid the timings from 10 AM to 4 PM. So meanwhile on the way to Hassan you can visit 'Belur' and 'Halebidu', The details about Belur and Halebidu are in the following link:

The places were included in the trip Bangalore-Chikmagalur trip that we covered recently.
The Things to Note are mentioned above.

And here are few of the pics that are taken in the trip to Shettihalli church.
